The Lafayette Atelier is modeled after the private art studio schools that emerged
during the 19th century in Europe, and those that exist
around the world today, that promote the advancement of classical methods of drawing,
painting, and sculpture. Open figure drawing and painting sessions, as well as classes and
private lessons for all ages are available at reasonable rates. A
full and part time certificate program offers a course
of study that is based on a 600 year old, realistic tradition in art that is rooted in
direct observation and disciplined study. Special workshops,
lectures and visiting artists also add to the studio events list, as
well as other outside activities, such as our out reach
program for regional art centers, museums and libraries. Our primary goal is to become an asset to the local arts
community by providing a rich cultural facet with historical substance, and offering an
opportunity for serious artists to develop strong skills in a traditional manner. |
